Suburban Reptile is owned and operated by Jason Subick. He has been actively involved in the care and breeding of reptiles for many years. This passion eventually led to the creation of Suburban Reptile. Our store is based in Plainfield Illinois, and carries many exotic species of reptiles, amphibians and arachnids and Exotic Mammals!
We opened our doors to the public in December of 2007, and have learned a lot about the retail end of the reptile industry in that small amount of time. We are constantly refining procedures and enclosures, trying to provide the best care for our animals, and provide our customers with quality products and reptiles. Our goal is to provide the public with a store that they can count on, and trust.
Suburban Reptile typically stocks a large quantity of more common reptiles as well as some more exotic ones. As stated above, we are constantly refining our enclosures to best facilitate the proper care of our animals. In the summer of 2009 we have removed all our original amphibian enclosures and replaced them with new Exo Terra enclosures. This allowed us to install a well needed automatic misting system that keeps the humidity level on all our frogs constant at all times.
The fall of 2009 we installed 10 new Freedom Breeder display enclosures to house our new Exotic Mammals! Our store has also recieved our USDA license which allows us to legally sell a variety of exotic mammals, Sugar Gliders, Hedge Hogs, Short Tailed Possums, just to name a few.
Our educational presentations that we currently offer are becoming increasingly popular. We provide out of store exhibits to many local organizations and birthdays in the area. Our staff displays some of our very own reptiles, and mammals to educate people on a selection of some of these wonderful animals.
We currently understand the importance of obtaining quality bred rodents for all your feeder needs. We provide our customers with all sizes of live and frozen feeders. We have grown so rapid since our opening, we have recently setup a rodent breeding facility off site to help facilitate this growing need. All our rodents are fed Mazuri Rodent Block, not table scraps like some of our competitors. We are also USDA licensed so our facility must maintain greater standards than those that are not. They are all housed in a temperature controlled facility, and cleaned regularly.
